REFLECTION AND OBJECTIVES TIMELINE

Timeline

As part of the personal investigation I have set myself targets nearly every week to acknowledge what I need to do and what work has been completed, I have been uploading them onto moodle but I believe that it is a better way to show my journey on my blog instead.

Monday, 2 October 2017, 8:22 PM -OBJECTIVE

I have been currently working on my blog whilst exploring places around the world that have become abandoned over time (e.g. Chernobyl), I have also research more deeply into the contextual side of death, afterlife and dreams. Although my ideas have changed I have documented them all.
I have been focusing on completing my artist analysis whilst researching more artists which can all be found on my blog.
Things I would like to be completed by the end of this week:
*Research the different artists similar to Djuno Tomsni which look more deeply into space using surrealism and collage.
*Research the things and places people in the 60's did and find images of these- I want to re create the images of people around this era so I need to look at what they wore and where they would go in time of leisure.
*Go to the abandoned train station near me and photograph it as part of the exploration of abandonment and decay over time- I am planning to go at around 7pm when it is dark and where there is very little bright lighting.
*Research the scale of artists which create surrealist pieces.

Monday, 9 October 2017, 12:43 PM- REFLECTION

I have completed the following objectives:
*Visit the old abandoned coal mine in Bedworth and photograph it- I have decided that I am going to visit it again but go when there is more brightness onto the camera. I have also just borrowed a professional camera to use for today. I am currently reviewing my shoot on my blog but am also going to use photoshop to create a different affect when looking at them.
*I have researched a few images which explore the surrealist view of out of space but i still need to make a connection of space and surrealism by using photoshop- I am planning to use photoshop for this week and use the images I will be photographing tonight.
* I still need to research the scale that the artists used when experimenting.

Wednesday, 18 October 2017, 4:42 PM- OBJECTIVE

For this week I am:
•experimenting with the use of paint, texture and colour from the movement and blur shown from shoot 2
• I need to start adding it to sammy slabbincks approach to collage.
• reflect all my experiments on blog

Thursday, 19 October 2017 11:30 AM- REFLECTION

From the objectives I set myself I have began to create some imaginative collages using photographs from magazines.
I have reflected on some of the experiments but I have been too focused on actually creating experiments.

David Bird - Thursday, 2 November 2017, 1:11 PM- FEEDBACK

Your blog is shaping up really well Baylie. Keep on posting up your experiments and always make sure you refer back to your artists when you analyse the work you have done.

Monday, 9 October 2017, 7:27 PM- OBJECTIVE

Last week I had completed my first shoot which I have reflected on and have just finished my second shoot, For my second shoot I discovered the use of movement photography and have reflected on my blog.
For this week I need to:
*Add one more artist to my artist analysis which I discovered yesterday.
*Experiment on photoshop of changing the perception of the photographs meaning- by changing the colour, shape etc.
*I would like to plan for my third shoot which will be influenced by the new ideas created by my second shoot.

Sunday, 15 October 2017, 10:42 PM- REFLECTION

Following up from the targets I set myself last week I have realised that from the second shoot i didn't gain the type of images i wanted, which were to capture the texture of graffiti over a background material, The images appeared to look dull and didn't link to my theme or research. However, I have reflected on the images by analysing a contact sheet which can be found in my evidence folder. I want to begin to experiment with movement, I have began experimenting with the use of mediums such as paint, by doing this I want to gain a real understanding of speed and blur by adding compositions of mixtures of colour and different ways to apply the paint to materials.
I am planning to photograph the movement of people in public by using a faster shutter speed- adding to the creation of experimentation of collage. I will focus on using these images to experiment using paint, oil paint, watercolour etc to see a change of effect and meaning.
I want to relate the movement and blur of colour to my own theme of afterlife and death by acknowledging theories of things that happen to individuals when they have near death experience-Feeling out of control and unable to see clearly, linking to the speed of movement.
I have not been focusing too on my artist analysis but have been adding more information to artists I want to add into my experimental side of art, I will be able to add further research of artists onto my blog. I want to start creating collages using aspects of blur and movement as a background- linking to the theme of space and 'presenting the unknown' in such a form.

Thursday, 2 November 2017, 7:57 PM- OBJECTIVE

From Monday i set myself targets to:
Experiment with different ways to create the effect similar to 'out of space'
I need to do a shoot around cobwebs- linking it the ideology of death and the texture of the material made by spiders, i will then experiment with ways to explore the shapes created from cobwebs.
I need to keep unto date with evaluation on blog.

Monday, 6 November 2017, 10:39 AM- REFLECTION

As a reflection from last week I did not photograph images of cobwebs as I found another visual inspiration that I believe would make my work stronger (fireworks display).
I stayed on Tuesday until 6:30pm to follow up any work that needed to be done in my sketchbook.

Monday, 6 November 2017, 10:37 AM- OBJECTIVE

During this week I am going to be working on my bigger sketchbook to complete experimentations from the visual inspiration that I have photographed from this weekend previously, I am going to be linking the fireworks colours to my work by acknowledging the detail into the process of explosion.
I am also going to reflect all of my previous experiments on blog.

Sunday, 12 November 2017, 6:04 PM- REFLECTION

n relation to my objectives for this I have done many different experiments regarding the visual inspiration from the fireworks linking to galaxy/Space/Planets, I have uploaded more research from books that show artists work as inspiration for re creating what space looks like on my blog, and overall just getting real grasp of the texture that would be on the surface of a planet.
I have bought more sketchbooks to work on for next week and have bought more canvas' to see if the effect of colour and texture from the inspiration I gathered last week. For next week i am thinking that the targets  want to set are to:
Start merging the separated pieces of experimental pieces together as a collage. I am also hoping to re incorporate my own photographs into this.

Monday, 13 November 2017, 10:21 AM- OBJECTIVE

From the objectives I set myself last week I have been able to reflect on them on last weeks post, This week I am planning to:
- Fill the new sketchbook I have bought with the cut-out collages, I am wanting to corporate surrealist techniques. I will also use my own photos as I want the collages to have a real personal meaning to me.
-Due to having a family problem at the moment that links to my current theme I feel like I am going to use photos of myself with the person who will not be here much longer, incorporating colours that resemble my feelings towards the problem and creating positive cut out collages to give a positive effect on what will happen after they pass. (For example, using an image of that person which will be cut out on top of an image or drawing as a cloud, representing peace) Or for another example (Cutting out different objects or a scenario of what this person will be doing with they do die, as they are a strong believer of god I could create scenarios of heaven).

Friday, 17 November 2017, 2:06 PM- REFLECTION

As a reflection, I have began to fill the sketchbook with mini mark making surrealist collages that show a real understanding towards my theme. I am yet to still add pictures of what I said  was going to do but have not printed them off but I have hand picked which images I feel are most useful as a personal investigation. Also, I have began to reflect on every single experiment I have done.
For next week I think I am going to begin adding features of texture and layering into the sketchbook.
Monday, 20 November 2017, 10:20 AM

Last week I had intentions of carrying on with the experimental work regarding surrealist collages whilst seeing what materials and mediums working on top work well and those that don't. I am planning to:
Complete the sketchbook- I am going to begin to add cut outs from previous shoots into the collages.
To add techniques I like such as melting cling film.
I need to annotate all of my reflection work onto my blog.
Begin to look at how I can put all of my best pieces together in order to re create the final outcome.- I will do this by creating l=plans such as mind maps to acknowledge my thoughts process
Monday, 27 November 2017, 11:06 AM

The weekend just gone I have been re looking at ways of creating line but by using different materials that portray shadow. I have a few sketchbooks which actually show a range of different aspects toward some a surrealist collage, I have also made many plans of how I want my final outcome to occur.
This week I am aiming to complete my sketchbooks full of constrasting ideas whilst completing my blog, I will also begin to practise the different outcomes whilst looking at scale.
Friday, 1 December 2017, 11:57 AM

Following from the objective  set myself at the beginning of the week I have successfully completed a small scale sketchbook which includes the experimental development of using different materials in relation to movement and movement. I have also completed a reflection upon each experiment within that folder to show what I liked and to acknowledge how I could take particular marks forward.  As the personal investigation comes to an end I have made many of plans which can be located in my evidence folder regarding how I want my final outcome to look like. During this week I feel like I have really taken a deeper grasp upon the meaning of adding shadow to a composition to make it appear realistic, but at the same time I believe that I successfully achieved the outcome of being able to add shadow onto texture, which from there I will add to the collages I create in my final pieces.
For this weekend I am aiming to complete analysis upon reflections in my biggest sketchbook whilst making more plans that inhabit what I will use within the final series of 3, I will do this by creating mind maps and lists to show a thought process. I also aim to exhibit what images I will use as apart of the compositions in the final outcome and how I will use colour, texture and layering effectively in a way that will show a personal concept towards my theme of 'Afterlife and death'.
Sunday, 3 December 2017, 8:00 PM

To do:
Complete all reflections on blog
Need to actually plan a final outcome and do some mini experiments- explain what to do on my blog.
I plan to do least 6 hours of exam time in the studio this week
Friday, 8 December 2017, 12:24 PM

As reflection I have not been able to complete the 6 hours for my final outcome but I did create 2 collages on an A3 size of paper, overall I liked the way they look but for this weekend I need to reflect on the images I have uploaded onto blog and print pictures of myself to use in the exam time.
